THE QUIET ATHLETE

Meet Dottie.

Dottie enjoys her exercise wheel, keeps out of most of the drama, and takes a quiet corner very seriously.

Female · Orange-and-white; fond of the exercise wheel

Dottie uses the cat exercise wheel. Regularly. I feel she deserves a bit of recognition for that, especially given how many cat things can end up being ignored.

She’s our orange-and-white girl, and she has a nice way of getting on with her own day.

Someone is using the gym

She likes a run on the wheel. Watching her put the effort in while I’m sitting nearby does make me think about my own exercise habits.

It’s one of the things that makes her easy to describe. Every cat here has a few recognizable habits. Dottie’s workout is one of hers.

Peaceful doesn’t mean a pushover

She doesn’t tend to go looking for fights or bother the others for entertainment. But if another cat starts something, she can stand her ground.

I’d rather everyone had their own comfortable space than have anyone testing that. Dottie seems quite happy keeping out of other cats’ business most of the time.

Off duty

When she isn’t running, she often chooses a quiet corner and settles down with her eyes half closed. She looks perfectly content with her own company.

In a home with five cats, there’s nearly always something happening somewhere. Dottie is good at finding a place where she doesn’t have to join in.

A run, a rest, and a little space. She has a fairly good arrangement.
