A LITTLE PEACE, PLEASE

Meet Piper.

Piper took her time getting comfortable here. Now she comes over for a fuss when she feels like it. Ideally without Juno joining in.

Female · Joined us at about one year old

Piper came to live with us when she was about a year old. She was nervous in a new home, with unfamiliar people and a lot to get used to.

I like the version of Piper we got to know once she settled in. She’ll come over when she wants some attention and ask for a few strokes. It means more knowing she gets to make that choice.

She’ll let you know

She isn’t asking to be the center of everything. She can enjoy some affection, then get on with her own afternoon. Her face is wonderfully expressive, which probably explains why I have so many photos of her.

And then there’s Juno

Juno keeps trying to get Piper involved. Piper is much less interested.

I don’t think Piper has ever volunteered to be part of Juno’s daily entertainment. A peaceful spot and a little attention from me seem much more her thing. I can understand the appeal.

Getting to know her took time

The nervous cat who first arrived and the cat who now comes over for a fuss are both Piper. Getting comfortable didn’t turn her into someone else. It gave us a chance to see more of her.

She still likes doing things her own way. That’s one of the things I like about her.
